FEEDBACK no. 2
Margl Bike Team, Czech Republic
Margl Bike Team, Czech Republic
This group of five Czech cyclists from the Margl Bike Team chose Berchtesgaden Alps as their base for their tour during the last week of April, 22.-26. April 2015. It soon became clear that to organise a tour that would please every single member of this party would be quite a task as each one of them had a specific ideas about where to go, what to do and how to do it especially accommodation, the length, duration and diffictulty of the daily cycles. Plenty of the places they wanted to visit were still covered in snow due to their high altitudes. I have spent two full days with this team and this is feedback of one of them.

"The objective of this tour was clear from the beginning – to put in as many kilometres height and distance wise as possible. This was our 'boys trip' and we quickly agreed our cycling routes, refreshments stops as well as the evening entertainment. Our accommodation was arranged by our local specialist guide Tomas Kamin. I can thoroughly recommend his services. Tomas followed our instructions to the letter and subsequently everything went according to the plan and our wishes. Tomas lent us his maps and recommended several routes. He also joined us on a full day MTB Round through the mountains. Everything was great: the nature, mountains, route markings, the surroundings – all great. Long live sports, especially MTB (mountain biking)."

"Originally we planned to visit mountains at the beginning of April and attempt to do as many bike kilometres as possible. We have agreed that Berchtesgaden Alps would be best choice as none of us had ever visited before. We had troubles with sorting accommodation and timetables. At the end this was what Tomas Kamin, our guide, sorted for us. First he had recommended that we delay our trip to the second part of April; the weather forecast being one factor in this decision as well as Tomas’ reconnaissance tours to the places we wanted to visit. When it came to choosing accommodation we decided to go with traditional Alpine appartments, which also happened to be cheaper, over the new, but largerly uninspiring hotel in Schönau am Königssee. Tomas also managed to get a futher discount on the apartments which had further reduced our overall cost. We have exchanged many emails with Tomas; Tomas was quick to reply and helped us to improve the ideas we had and improve the holiday experience for better. The testimony to Tomas’ commintment to his role as a guide in this beautiful part of Germany is his readiness to lend us maps, provide gpx advice (where to go and where not to go), but also his willingness to join us on two days on our cycling tours. I can fully recommend Tomas and his service."

"Originally I did not understand why we would need a guide... Do we need advice on where to cycle and where to drink beer? With hindsight, I realise that it was a good decision: gaining excellent and affordable accommodation, tips on where to go to see the best the region has to offer, local knowledge of where do the cyclopaths finish, where the snow starts as well as commentary on the history of the region, mentality of the local people... I could go on. Berchtesgaden Alps are one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited: 'You were right Tomas, few days is not enough'…:-))"

"Hello Tomas, Thank you for looking after us on our cycling tour. Thanks to you we were not lost the first two days, trying to figure out stuff, we were able to start cycling straight away. Really good choice of location, excellent nature, wonderful services. Safe accommodation. I can imagine coming here and doing the same with my family too. Once more, thank you!" Miroslav Sykora |
